Interesting read. Coincidentally, I watched his film Flower Island just the other day, and liked it quite a bit. Interestingly enough, in that movie there also was a scene with a girl having a stillborn baby in a toilet. And yes, there was squirming on my part.
On another note, looks like Song Il Gon has two entries on IMDb here and here. I guess IMDb can be somewhat lacking when it comes to Asian cinema.
