Logboy just dropped me a note pointing out that Facets Video - the people responsible for the recent release of The American Astronaut - will be releasing Shinji Aoyama's A Forest With No Name in North America on May 24th! For those who don't know, Forest is Aoyama's entry into the long running series of Mike Hama detective films and is apparently one of the stronger titles in the series which began with The Most Terrible Time In My Life. As far as I know this is the first time this has been available with English subs ... nice ...

Hopefully, if this sells, they'll release the other Hama films, each of which is directed by a different person. They also costar hottie Mika Nakashima.

Like crazybee said above, this was an episode of the Mike Hama tv series. They are all out in japan but of course without subtitles. I actually saw this version at a film fesitval a few years back. pretty good stuff. Other episodes were directed by such people as Sogo Ishii and even Alex Cox.
