I haven't even started digging through the Cannes list yet, but I just came across the trailer for Lars Von Trier's Manderlay, the quasi-sequel to Dogville and it looks fantastic in a very Lars-y sort of way. If the trailer's any indication the people that got all worked up over Von Trier criticizing America in Dogville are going to be positively incensed by this one. And no, no sign of the donkey. Check it out here.

really looking forward to this movie, thought dogville was a trully original and interesting concept. It seems he continued the same ideas, i wonder if it will have the same impact as dogville did.

That is one disturbing trailer, how it categorizes the slaves. I have a feeling this one will be violent as all hell, and even more disturbing than dogville.

finally watched it. its odd when you spot a UK TV regular in there. this time sat at the table is mona hammond, familiar black actress from things like 'eastenders' and bbc comedy 'the crouches' :
Mona Hammond (Grandma): Mona has become a familiar face on our screens having starred in Babyfather, White Teeth, EastEnders, and Storm Damage, while Macbeth and King Lear are among her theatre credits. Mona is also to appear in the upcoming Hollywood movie The Life And Death of Peter Sellers. Trivia: Mona originally hails from Clarendon in Jamaica. In 1985 she helped to establish the Talawa Theatre Company, Britain’s leading black theatre company alongside Yvonne Brewster OBE, Carmen Munroe and Inigo Espejel.

lars is an pretentious, ego-maniacal douchebag. just ask bjork. please dont encourage this twit.

Bjork being the one who, on the set of Dancer in the Dark, cut up a blouse into little squares and ate it because she didn't want to wear the costume Lars had chosen. An ego-maniac Lars may be, but Bjork is not really the person to go to for a rational opinion of him ...
