Kung Fu Hustle wins Best Picture at HKFCA Awards

Kung-Fu-Hustle.jpgThe Hong Kong Film Critics Association announced their winners the other day. Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle won Best Picture but he lost the Best Director title to Yee Tung-Shing [One Nite in Mongkok] which I must see really, really soon.

The Best Actor award went to the always awesome Tony Leung (2046). Rene Liu won the Best Actress award [A World without Thieves]. The Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress titles went to Yuen Wah (Kung Fu Hustle) and Bai Ling [Dumpling - Three Extreme].

Good to hear for Chow. It was an excellent movie and I think deserved at least what it got. Chow just keeps getting better and better, though I think it would be hard to say which is the best of his recent films.

And by the way it is Dumpling, though I do think Dumping would have been a funnier title.

Glad to see One Nite In Mongkok got some recognition. Yes Mack, you need to see it ASAP.

Yeah, ONE NITE IN MONGKOK was a damn good movie - actually, there were a lot of great HK films this year (something I can't say in regard to the last few years). ONE NITE..., DUMPLINGS, KUNG-FU HUSTLE, BREAKING NEWS, LOVE BATTLEFIELD, DARKNESS BRIDE, 2046, NEW POLICE STORY... lots of good stuff.

2046 should have cleaned up...

Actually I was a huge fan of Dumplings (The 3 Extremes extended version)...Was my favorite HK film of last year...I didn't get a chance to catch Mongkok though...and A World Without Thieves is sitting near the top of my 'to watch' pile.

Fully deserved, hustle is an excellent movie, one of the most enjoyable I have seen in a long time, agree with ijaffery on 2046, its amazing, on a whole other level to hustle though.

Add Beyond Our Ken to the list of excellent 2004 HK films.
