I have to confess that when I first heard David Duchovney talking up the possibility of a second X Files feature film I wrote it off as little more than wishful thinking from a pretty much out of work actor hoping for a return to the glory days ... glory days he destroyed himself, incidentally. But that appears not to be the case ... this thing just might get made. According to this article at Cinema Confidential there's a story in place for Mulder and Sculley to investigate some sort of horror phenomenon ...

I have mixed feelings about this ... I was a huge X Phile for years. To this day a have a major friendship built around the fact that we used to get together every Sunday night to over-caffeinate ourselves and watch the X Files. The opening seasons were soooooo good ... and then came those last two, when it became painfully obvious that nobody had much of an idea just where this thing was heading and that they were prepared to do just about anything to keep the gravy train rolling whether it made any sense or not ... So, while I'd love to see something restore the lustre a bit I just don't think it's going to happen. Honestly, I don't think it can happen - things were just too far gone by the time they wrapped up.
