Oldboy. Ultimate Edition. 18 New Shots Of Packaging.

oldboy1.jpgThe Ultimate Edition : for those of you who want to buy the film twice, for the sake of a nice box.

Anyhow, opinions aside, I must admit that at least it is a very nice box... And now its evident you're going to get more than you initially imagined. It's clear though, that it's geared towards those who've already seen the film, once you see how that copper box comes packaged. Lovely purple carboard box for it to "sleep in" too.

The origin of these pics is a Korean DVD sellers site, and just incase the listing goes missing i've copied the pictures out and put small versions below (so click to view the extended entry), or you can look at the larger versions here. Warning though, they are large files at that site, and I don't know if they took them or are simply putting them up.

Fairly sure they took the shots themselves. madmad.co.kr is a good site for new pics of Korean DVDs, I usually go there to check up on new releases, like I did with Oldboy UE - and it paid off :)

That box is totally impressive. It's too bad that I've got so much shit pre-ordered (like the IA box, a bunch of random new HK DVDs, two New Police Story LEs), because I may have ordered this otherwise. It's damn expensive though...

i have read comments online that say people recieving the set are regretting it, cos the disc sleeves have been forced into the copper box and been torn on the underneath of the rivets used to hold the copper box together... so : not only are they arriving damaged, but theres a good chance of damage any time you take a discs in / out... and theres apparently also a disc-freezing problem too.

Two of the sleeves are getting damaged during shipping because they rub against the copper rivets on the inside of the box. It's not heavy damage, but not what you want in a $100 set. The manufacturer is offering replacement sleeves for those who report it by 12/20/04. The disc-freezing I think is due to the ARccOS copy protection used on the DVD, but it seems to affect only a small number of dvd players.
