I'll be getting mine soon. Now you're not the only one who can brag about getting pre-realease DVDs. :p

I'm still confused how a really unassuming blog (which hardly advertises its reviews, in themselves hard to locate) gets so much free stuff to give away.

Unassuming, but good, I think. And we draw pretty good traffic. Mostly I just ask very politely.

I've been tweaking away at the site design to make the major original content (like reviews) more easily accessible ... this design was cobbled together very quickly so there are some definite weak spots. I'm looking into having it re-designed by someone who actually has a clue. Opus? Check your mail ...

That's good. Hope I wasn't sounding arrogant, cause I like you guys. I'm just amazed by the free stuff you always get. I've contacted a bunch of companies and haven't gotten anything. Phil from Artsmagic contacted ME and offered to send me pre-release DVDs based on my comments he read here. He's a damn good guy, that Phil. I wish more DVD companies had people like him.

Hey, I heard that "has a clue comment"...

Since I was already punching myself in the bag, I'll just do so harder.....

sigh.....

Hey Todd the other blog (your old one) has had a revamp to, is something in the air? Movie companies do seem to take independant movie websites like these seriously. I know that film companies post good reviews for crap films on blogs (the film company behind Alien Vs Predator did it on the other blog). Sites like these can influence film companies, thats why they give stuff away, so keep up the good work!! I just wish you could get hold of some Pacino / De Niro / mob film stuff to give away!

Hee hee ... Dave, the 'has a clue' comment was mostly directed at myself. And you said yourself that you don't really know your way around MT ...

Other Dave: I'm not sure what Campea's reasoning was behind revamping The Movie Blog. I'm just getting to the point where this design's weaknesses are getting pretty obvious to me so I want to pretty it up a bit ... and if Pacino or DeNiro were to make another halfway decent crime film I'd be so there ... DeNiro's GOT to pull out of this slump he's in ... he's quickly becoming a parody of himself ...

DeNiro is my all time movie hero! Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino, Once upon a Time, Raging Bull, Heat (I also love Cape Fear, but if i call that a classic people will tear a shred of me)are all classics! But what has gone wrong?! It pains me to say it, but he is like a sitcom that goes on just too long, and become's unfunny. He should off quick whilst he was ahead!!! I do think he had to put soooooo much energy into his earlier performances, that as an actor, he now does what comes easy, sneer, shout and look menacing! The comedies he does are fairly funny, but he just turns up and plays himself!! It is sooooo heartbreaking (I sound like a big girl now!!). Even his productions and directing are failing, through mainly bad actor and subject matter choices!!! Maybe he needs to hook up with Scorcese again, if anyone can get a performance out of him, its Marty!!!!

John Campea said he changed it because too many other blogs looked the same.
