Big, big thanks are due to Roberto for steering me to the trailer for Fermat's Room, a new feature by Spanish writer-director Luis Piedrahita and Rodrigo Sopeña.
The premise? Four mathematicians are summoned to a strange old house to work out a puzzle. If they can't? All signs are that they'll be crushed to death considering that the walls of the room they are confined to are slowly moving in. This looks to be beautifully shot, very smart stuff and has instantly jumped up to the top of my list of titles to track down.
Director Piedrahita, incidentally, looks to be nearly as fun a story himself as his film is, a writer, comedian and stage magician who has carved out an impressive resume for himself despite being only thirty years old.

HELL YES! We need more hardcore math thrillers! I loved it when there seemed to be this subgenre, emerging in the late 90ies with PI, CUBE and the brilliant MOEBIUS - a little seen Argentinian thriller that's only been released on DVD in... Italy?! What the hell? Anyway, I want MORE of this stuff! Bring it!
