The Icelandic thriller Jar City by Baltasar Kormakur took home the coveted Crystal Ball Grand Prix at the Karlovy Vary film festival in the Czech Republic a couple of days ago. The film was up against Jan Sverák's latest Empties and Ferzan Ozpetek's Saturno contro, among others.
Among other winners at the festival were Lucky Miles by Michael James Rowland, who got the Special Jury Price and the Best Director Price went to Bård Breien for The Art of Negative Thinking.

this thing better come to toronto! I'm itching to see
Who cares about Toronto... I'm quite sure it will get theatrical distribution pretty much everywhere. It's really good and a deserved winner.
Well hey then. Even better. It's nice to see that Baltasar Kormakur's A Little Trip to Heaven eventually got a R1 release, but his films deserve better on this side of the pond.
