[Korean Film News] Black House [검은 집] To Haunt Japan in October

Korean horror film Black House [검은 집], the sophomore effort by director Sin Tae-ra [신태라], and starring Hwang Jeong-min [황정민] (You Are My Sunshine), is scheduled to open in 250 theatres in Japan this October. In the picture, based on a best-selling Japanese novel by Yûsuke Kishi, Hwang plays an insurance company employee who must fight against a psychopath while investigating the suicide of a 7- year-old boy. The film, which opened on 353 screens in Korea on June 21st, sold 377,195 admissions over the weekend, landing the number 1 spot and breaking an eight-week stranglehold by Hollywood. The movie sold 909,172 tickets as of July 1st, restoring a bit of lustre to the Korean film industry, suffering the worst first-half year performance since 2001.
