As was previously reported here and there on Twitch, the screenplay for The Night of the Sunflowers was written by Sánchez-Cabezudo. The movie stars Carmelo Gómez as Esteban, Judith Diakhate as Gabi, Celso Bugallo as Amadeo, Manuel Morón as the salesman, Mariano Alameda as Pedro, Vicente Romero as Tomás, Walter Vidarte as Amós, Cesáreo Estébanez as Cecilio, Fernando Sánchez-Cabezudo as Beni, Petra Martínez as Marta, Nuria Mencía as Raquel, Enrique Martínez as Julián, Mariano Peña as Rovira, and Amalia Hornero as Rosa.

Here's a description of The Night of the Sunflowers from the Philadelphia Film Festival (PFF) website: "The circumstances surrounding a murdered young woman's body in a field of sunflowers gradually become clear from six separate segments, each told from a different perspective, in this inventively structured Spanish thriller. ¶ In the remote, dusty landscape of Spain's Castilla y León province, far away from the cosmopolitan hubbub of the country's famous beaches and metropolises, the rape of a young woman sets in motion a tragic cycle of violence in this impressive and atmospheric noir debut. Esteban is a cave expert visiting a moribund rural area of central Spain to explore a cave when his girlfriend is raped. Consumed with desire for revenge, he kills a man, but not the one who committed the crime. The two civil guards who investigate the crimes are divided between lazy complicity and determination to uncover what has really happened. Despite the narrative's episodic and non-linear structure, the film is nonetheless expertly unified and moves along with a fast, gripping pace that is driven by uniformly excellent performances and nerve-racking moodiness. Relocating the noir thriller genre's typically urban setting to a creepily desolate locale, first-time writer/director Jorge Sanchez-Cabezudo has created a tense and satisfying thriller that establishes him as a director to watch."
