Impressive Early Test Footage For Daniel DelPurgatorio's The Clearing

Reading about The Clearing, the upcoming feature from Texan director Daniel DelPurgatorio, I'm reminded of that old adage about overnight success taking years of work. DelPurgatorio began pre-production work on his film a solid year and a half ago and is just now finally coming up on principal photography and it looks to be well worth the wait. It's a straight out horror picture in that classic, old school American horror sort of way. Here's what the website has to say about it:

The film follows a group of friends as they spiral into physical and emotional madness when a last minute trip goes awry. Caught in a small town, the friends fall prey to the local underground in an elaborate game of cat and mouse. This is the gruesome depiction of the young group's journey into a nauseating backwoods town, and their struggle to stay alive.

The ambient texture and unwavering rawness of the film will render a realistic view of their horrid account of survival...or lack thereof.

Though they're not yet into primary photography DelPurgatorio has put together a pair of test reels both to work out the atmosphere that he's aiming for and to prove to investors tht he's got the chops to pull it off. And he does.
