Neil Jordan's The Brave One Trailer and One Sheet

(Posted In Action Film News Random Geek Talk Thriller Trailer Alert USA and Canada )

TheBraveOne-small.jpgHands up who wants to see Jodie Foster get her Bronson on? While it seems everyone and their brother is doing a revenge picture these days, the mix of talent in front of and behind the camera is just eclectic enough to make this really interesting or an unmitigated disaster (I'm expecting the former). Has there ever been a stranger pair of bedfellows than Neil Jordan and Joel Sliver? Just a glance at that one sheet (bigger version below) and I could see Silver's fingerprints on it (Is that a gigantic skull in the background by the way?) Terrence Howard, Mary Steenburgen, Naveen "I want your balls" Andrews, Nicky Katt and Larry Fessenden are the supporting players; and that is mighty fine. Will there be a Thomas Jane cameo? Regardless, I'm on board at this point.

Sorry but this looks terrible. "I WANT MY DOG BACK!!!" Hahahaha oh wow. Just another well made but mind-numbingly generic Hollywood "thriller" that has everyone in front and behind the camera grabbing a quick paycheck and laughing all the way to the bank. I hope Neil Jordan makes A KILLING AT CARNIVAL ROW next and really knocks it out of the park. He hasn't made anything worth my time since the underrated and overlooked BUTCHER BOY in 1997.

I think I'm with Caterpillar on this one

i'm pretty sure that is actually the punisher's logo in the background of the poster. that's...interesting. also, 2nd movie usage of mogwai's "auto rock" in under a year (the first being the end of "miami vice", to great effect).

I'm a massive (MASSIVE) fan of the Butcherboy, I still remember coming out of a Vancouver cinema totally on a high after that flick. But I really do think that his Bob Le Flambeur remake (The Good Thief) was very, very solid.

Thanks for this bit of news Kurt! Besides "Death Wish", I was reminded of Abel Ferrara's cult film "Ms. 45" but Jodie Foster and Zoe Lund couldn't be any more polar opposites.

I also agree that the trailer didn't really get me that excited to see the film but I've always like Neil Jordan's films and Jodie Foster is one of my favorite actresses, so I may end up seeing it. Haven't seen "Butcher Boy" yet but may try to rent it out.

You guys are nuts. This film looks fantastic, the trailer was BEAUTIFUL, the poster is incredible, and it's got Jodie Foster going for it... not to mention Terrance Howard? Looks great.

Butcher Boy was brilliant. a punk-fist in your face with a little spit afterwards.....I DO love JodieFoster but I would like her to take on other roles than the tough "don't fuck (with) her" woman of late.

I'm with Derek. The trailer looks great although that dog line is cheesetastic, and I can't wait to see it. The trailer came on with Mr. Brooks and the audience went nuts for it. Foster owns these kind of roles, so I'm there.
