We've been tracking the progress of Gong Tau - Herman Yau's return to the Category III exploitation films that made his name - for some time now and the film has just been announced as hitting DVD June 25th with an English friendly Hong Kong release. The film revolves around a form of pan-Asian black magic and apparently features a good amount of graphic gore.
Also coming soon is The Closet, one I'd honestly not heard of before seeing the listing but which is immediately of interest thanks to Francis Ng in a starring role and a story line that revolves around a physically abused boy growing up to become a stage magician haunted by visions of his father. Is there any word on this from anyone out there? Sounds like it could have the makings of something interesting.
And rounding out the current crop of comign releases from Hong Kong is the six disc, all region DVD release of hugely popular TVB swordplay drama Sword Stained With Royal Blood which drops July 20th and is surprisingly inexpensive.

The "Sword Stained With Royal Blood" at the link above direct us to a China Mainland production (Producer/Director: Zhang Jichong), NOT TVB. As far as I know, TVB has not released this series on DVD yet.

Will there be a 2-disc special edition of GONG TAU in a month or two?
