"I will seize the gaze of death in your eyes!"

Stefano Bessoni's next movie is to be the English-language Italian-Spanish horror movie Imago Mortis. (Note: "Imago Mortis" is the movie's international title; it's Latin for "image of death".)

The screenplay for Imago Mortis was written by Bessoni and Richard Stanley (rewrite), based on a story by the former. Actors attached to the project include María Valverde, Jordi Mollá, Joaquim de Almeida, and Marta Moreira.

Here's a synopsis for Imago Mortis from the production: "They say that in the 1600s, long before the invention of photography, a scientist named Girolamo Fumagalli was obsessed with the idea of reproducing images. He discovered that by killing a victim and removing the victim's eyeballs, it was possible to reproduce on paper the last image imprinted on that person's retinas. He named this technique 'thanatography'. Today, the same kind of gruesome ritual and abominable crime recurs within the walls of an international school of cinema."

Bessoni's previous directing credits include Frammenti di scienze inesatte.

Those who are interested in Imago Mortis may also wish to read the Twitch articles on Ilmar Taska's English-language Italian-Spanish horror movie Thy Kingdom Come, which is scheduled to start shooting in Argentina very soon.
