There's a trailer for Keisaku Satô's Ningen-isu and Mitsuhiro Mihara's Yaneura no sanposha on Cinema Topics Online. Both movies are based on eponymous short stories by Tarô Hirai (1894-1965) - better known by the pen name "Edogawa Ranpo".
The screenplay for Ningen-isu was written by (Keisaku) Satô and Aya Takei. The movie stars Mao Miyaji, Maju Ozawa (she's also in Kenta Fukasaku's XX (XX (ekusu kurosu): makyô densetsu) - a.k.a. "X-Cross"), Itsuji Itao, Osamu Tsuji, Ken Ishikawa, Kaoru Suzuki, Takuya Suzuki, Masao Kayano, and Hineki Mito.
The screenplay for Yaneura no sanposha was written by Kishû Izuchi (Iduchi Kishû - he also wrote the screenplay for Takahisa Zeze's Shisei: ochita jorôgumo). The movie stars Yôko Kamon (she's also in Toshikazu Katsu's Joshû 611: onna-tachi no yakata, Joshû 611: onna-tachi no gyakushû, and Joshû shiiku 611), Shunsuke Kubozuka (Kuboduka Shunsuke), Jin Muraki, Hikari Nagase, Momoko Shimizu, Ryôko Yûi (she's also in Kôsuke Suzuki's Kôan keisatsu sôsakan), Hôka Kinoshita, and Denden.

Are all those stories in the public domain or something? These must be the 20th adaptations of them each, at least if you count TV movies and all those films that took several of Rampo's stories and combined them like HORROR OR MALFORMED MEN (which included the Human Chair) and Noboru Tanaka's WATCHER IN THE ATTIC, which amusingly used both stories.
