Another twist has occurred again with the casting of John Woo's Battle of Red Cliff. (Check our past entries here and here). It turns out that Chow Yun-Fat has verbally agreed to return to the film according to a publicist for one of the film's investors. Back in April, Chow has generated negative headlines from the Hong Kong press on claims of him behaving as a prima donna before pulling out of the film. No contract has been signed yet but he will most likely play a cameo role as General Huang Gai and his scene will be done in three days. Yeesh, John Woo must be getting a headache from this revolving door affair.

I guess Chow thinks he's a big shot now that he's in PIRATES 3. We'll see how well his career goes after that one, though.
I thought his decision to leave had something to do with his not feeling that he had enough time to learn the script properly?
I foresee a dog's breakfast of Seven Swords proportions
There is two side of the story on the reason why Chow back out of the film. Chow claims he was given the script on short notise so he felt there isn't enough time to prepare for the role while the production team/investors claims Chow was making "nearly one-hundred unreasonable demands".
anyone think this is possibly a promotional tool to get the movie known by..well...everyone?
So he hasn't got his previous role? Or am I not following this correctly?
Quadshock: It would only serve to harm the film's crediability if news got out that there were problems with the casting so I doubt this would be publicity stunt.
Esh: That is correct. Chow's original role has been filled by Tony Leung. I assume his new role will be a small part, hence, less screen time.
And the music for the musical chairs continues :P
The whole thing's beginning to be like a big promotional stunt, intented or not.
My my this is turning into quite a little soap opera
