This could be great news or the begginings of cinematic blasphemy but it seems that someone has finally taken the stake out of Hammers heart and decided to resurrect the brand. Definitely bad news is that the story implies they won't be launching a DVD label utilizing the older titles everybody would like to get their hands on here stateside but they do plan on maintaining and building on Hammers reputation for classy, well mounted genre entertainment. More Hammer horror anyone? I can't even imagine what it would look like these days. But the horror genre can always use a little more class. Here's hoping they take after Hammer's wildly successful first half more than its sleazy slow slide into cinematic hasbeenery. Readmore here courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.
I could weep with joy (but this has been announced before and failed.)
Let this time be real and let the moody gothic tone and spirit survive.
