"Frans Zwartjes - the Great Cinema Magician" English friendly DVD out now

"If Twitch wants to focus on important releases that tend to fall trough the cracks of mainstream reporting, this should be worth a mention:

Distributed by Dutch label Moskwood for the well respected Dutch Filmmuseum (who's discovery and restauration of Beyond the Rocks was shown in Cannes in 2005 and has been released in the US by New Yorker Video). It's a very affordable 2-disc set with a feature length documentary on Zwartjes, his feature Pentimento and a lot of his experimental short films. I recieved my copy last week and I can say it's a very International friendly release being NTSC region free with English subtitles and a bilingual booklet, even the back of the box has a bilingual description. Too bad I didn't find a DVD seller online yet that has the information about this release in English...I think Moskwood will ship everywhere in the world, but some translation might be needed to understand the orderform?"

Frans Zwartjes (80 years old and still alive) is amongst other things a painter, musician and sculptor, but in the late nineteen sixties and early nineteen seventies he made a number of experimental movies which brought him international acclaim.
This set contains more than 5 hours worth of his films, including the aforementioned "Pentimento" which caused violent riots in the Netherlands after being deemed anti-feminist by some radical groups.
