Peter Martin linked to the line-up for the 9th edition of the Udine Far East Film Festival last week, so I hope I'm not being redundant in announcing that 14 Korean films have been selected for competition in Europe's most important Asian film festival, which opens today. The films are as follows: drama « War of Flowers » (dir. Choi Dong-hoon), action fantasy « The Restless » (dir. Jo Dong-Oh), romantic comedy « 200 Pound Beauty » (dir. Kim Yong-Hwa), drama « Family Ties » (dir. Kim Tae-Yong), monster film « The Host » (dir. Bong Joon-ho), horror film « D-Day » (dir. Kim Eun-Gyeong), action film « No Mercy for The Rude » (dir. Park Chul-Hee), comedy « Dasepo Naughty Girls » (dir. E J-yong), gangster film « A Dirty Carnival » (dir. Yu Ha), action film « Righteous Ties » (dir. Jang Jin), thriller « Bloody Tie » (dir. Choi Ho), drama « Cruel Winter Blues » (dir. Lee Jeong-Beom), romance « Solace » (dir. Byeon Seung-Wuk) and romantic comedy « A Good Day For An Affair» (dir. Jang Mun-Il). Director Choi Dong-hoon and actress Kim Hye-soo have been invited to attend the festival, which continues through April 28.
