In a strange turn of events, Chow Yun Fat has suddenly dropped out of John Woo's highly-antipcated big budget epic Battle of Red Cliff, just only a few days after shooting has begun. Apparently, the production team claims that Chow put forward "nearly one-hundred unreasonable demands", which they said "they are unable to tolerate". Also, they believe Chow is "far beyond the age of his role in the film" and they have got what they call "negative feedbacks from the public on the point".
Monkeypeaches, however, reports that Chow issue a statement, explaining his side of the story. The claims againest him is infact not true and Chow actually agreed to take a pay cut for his role. Since Chow received the screenplay no longer than a week in advance before shooting, he felt he had little time to prepare for his role as he is uncomfortable delivering his lines in Mandarin.
The production team plans to recast Chow's role with a younger face. Its expected to be someone who is an old friend of John Woo.

Is it just me or has this project been rife with problems? The casting has been akin to a game of musical chairs, Woo is well past his prime, and the idea of 2 seperate cuts before a single frame has been shot...there's nothing that instills any confidence in me that this film will be very good.
Yeah, at this rate, Daniel Lee's version of the Three Kingdoms saga with Andy Lau and Sammo Hung will be better.
i don't think this movie should be cast with too many famous faces at all. I enjoyed the 90s TV series so far none of the actors in this film will come close to the great casting of the series.
