Over time I've learned there are certain truths about the city I currently call home which had to be owned up to - one of the more unpleasant having been that if you weren't a rabid sports fan, there was little reason to add any extra marks to your calendar while living in the Circle City.
That began to change in 2004, with the launch of the Indianapolis International Film Festival. In its first three incarnations, the festival doubled in size twice (from 24 to 53 to over 100 titles screened) and watched its audience expand by over 100%. This year's festival, running April 25th thru May 4th, will feature 191 films from 45 nations on multiple screens throughout the city.
I've lived on and off in Indianapolis for nearly 10 years, and having watched the IIFF grow has been exciting and encouraging. In a city in dire need of greater support for progressive arts, the Festival is an annual breath of fresh air, and this year promises to be no exception.
I'll be providing coverage here at Twitch for as many titles as possible during the IIFF's run, and posting links to trailers and additional information for some of the more unheralded films.
