Herman Yau and Dennis Law Teaming Up For Gong Tau

(Posted In Asia Film News Horror )

gongtau.jpgHong Kong director Herman Yau is just an obscenely busy man right now and while his output can be frustratingly inconsistent the good stuff is very, very good and I'm more than a little intrigued by his latest project, Gong Tau. The website is now live but includes very little information, so what is there to be excited about? First, there's the presence of producer Dennis Law who filled the same role on Johnnie To's Election films and directed Fatal Contact. Law's no slouch and if he's involved that should pull Yau's game up a notch or two. Then there's the cast, also stocked with To regulars: Mark Cheng, Maggie Siu, Lam Suet, Hui Siu-Hung, Jay Lau all appear. Then there's the topic itself: as I understand it gong tau is essentially an asian variation on voodoo. Yes please.

Visit the film's website here.
Wikipedia entry on gong tau.

yep, "gong tau" is black magic in both the Cantonese and Hokkien, or Fuchien, dialects. should be fun, this movie. or it could be like Long Khong.

Wow, Herman Yau's got quite a few of movies coming out this year. He did this, A Mob Story and Whispers and Moans. Good to see him trying to make something of quality.
