The Lookout - A few more scenes.

(Posted In Drama USA and Canada )

TheLookOut.jpgThere was very little love for The Lookout at the US/Canada box office this past weekend. I managed to catch it in a nearly empty multiplex auditorium during the prime Saturday night showing. While the film does not achieve such lofty heights as The Usual Suspects or Memento, it is nevertheless a quiet and solid little neo-noir worth catching on the big screen if only for the films opening minutes involving fireflies and a fast moving car. The Lookout would make fine company with other unjustly ignored titles such as The Alzheimer Case, A Little Trip to Heaven or Un Crime.

The video clip linked to below may be a tad on the 'puffy' side, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeff Daniels and Isla Fisher talking about their characters in between scenes from the film. But it should (hopefully) help remind fans of character driven crime films to get out to the theater before The Lookout all but vanishes next weekend. More of these types of films should be made on this continent. If nothing else than to provide a chance for the actors to flex their chops without showboating.

I caught this one in theatres yesterday. Sad to see it fail but hopefully this won't keep Frank out of directing as to me he was as good at that as he is at writing. Hopefully it can find life on DVD.

Still no UK release date announced. Looking very forward to it at any rate.
