Both Of Johnnie To's Election Films Hitting Screens in New York!

When Tartan Films bought North American rights to Johnnie To's Election films the purchase was followed up by an announcement that they planned to take only the leaner second film - retitled by them as Triad Election - theatrical with the first receiving only a straight to video release. Well, apparently they've reconsidered that stance as New York's Film Forum has announced that they will be giving both features a two week run of screenings beginning April 25th. Triad Election is getting the bulk of the screenings - four per day - but for those who want to appreciate these things the best way possible they have wisely scheduled the sole daily screening of the first film so that you can watch the two pictures back to back, which I highly recommend as the best possible way to experience them as taking the two together unlocks entirely new layers of meaning to both.
