Wholpin DVD Magazine. Good stuff.

(Posted In Cult DVD News Seldom Seen )

wholphin_cover.jpg Fans of short films, strange films, documentaries and other assorted cinematic oddities might want to check out Wholpin DVD magazine that showcases rare films from interesting filmmakers from all over the world. I first got this magazine from a producer friend of mine a few months ago and got the first two issues. Then yesterday I saw the third one at the local book store and picked it up. The quarterly issue features talents such as Spike Jonze, David O. Russell, Bob Odenkirk, Steven Soderbergh and the latest issue features the first film by Alexander Payne. So there is plenty of great stuff to be found on these wonderful DVDs. There are only three issues out so far but they are inexpensive and a great way to get your hands on films you wouldn’t otherwise see.
This magazine is published by McSweeney who have been known for their alternative book publishing for years. This stuff is highly recommended.

Yeah, Wholhin's pretty amazing - it reminded me why I like short stories as well, and it's generally just fun.

Even better, the last 2 issues came with parts 1 and 2 of the amazing Power of Nightmares documentary (though it is available online as well.
