At the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF), it was announced that a plan to adapt Tsutomu Nihei's cyberpunk manga BLAME! into a CG animated movie is underway. The production will be handled by Micott and Basara, the same company responsible for the making of Appleseed Ex Machina. Production I.G is also involved for working on the background. Only a small picture is revealed as shown at the left of this post.
A promotional DVD will be release this summer. No word yet on the release date.

That's great news! They're finally going to do BLAME! properly. The web episodes hardly did the art justice. I didn't really enjoy the Appleseed movie that much, but I hope they nail that deep and dark cyberpunk dungeon atmosphere.
Best news I've heard today!!!
I am also no fan of that Appleseed movie, but with Blame! the writing and style are so different... so that doesn't really have to mean anything.
I hope it looks like the book and not that promo image.
Has such a small picture ever made anyone's nipples so hard?
My God!!!!! Best news of the 2000s so far. BLAME is my favorite manga and has been for years. This could be the best H.R. Giger movie that H.R. Giger was never involved in. The potential is staggering. I was very disappointed by the websiodes, which not only lacked a story but were also just too damn... colorful. The prospect of this being done in CG doesn't put me off as much as it would have a few years ago. In a way it makes a lot of sense. So long as they figure out how to have the human characters move in a way that doesn't make them look like muppets or characters trapped in a PS1 cut sequence. And I sure hope they won't "simplify" the story to make it more accessible to the mainstream.
Although I can't imagine Nihei's designs transferring to CG, there's so much potential here...
I just know it's going to get screwed up.
Nice.
Although I would have preferred just a nice little 13 maybe even 26 episode series it's great just to see something being done with this great material.
Can't wait to see how Cibo and Killy look.
Sana-kan is already looking good.
Although I'm skeptical on how this will look as CG (As I'm sure most people agree, the draw of BLAME! is the art), this is still great news.
