Full Trailer for Mitchel & Webb's 'Magicians'.

(Posted In Comedy Cult Drama Trailer Alert UK / Ireland / Australia / New Zealand )

mitchellwebb.jpegHere's another one that I was hoping to spot that completely passed under my radar, having seen the teaser only very recently also (and that had been around a while) I'm still surprised to see this trailer went online a couple of weeks back. It's the full trailer for the first feature film from Mitchell & Webb, the duo behind 'Peep Show' (beat 'Extras' to best comedy last year at the British Comedy Awards) - which returns for its fourth (but not final - just recommissioned for Series Five) series of adventures.

For now, although this film's either going to fly or sink (as most British Comedy films do - the flyers are rare) and it's either going to hit the mark with its jokes, or it will fall flat liketheir recent BBC sketch show did for me. Still, 'Peep Show' is one of the more recent affairs from British Comedy to find a small band of dedicated follows in the States and beyond, so it's worth tracking down if you haven't seen it - the mix of personalities and the first person approach are always funny... this film should be out in May in the U.K at least. I love Peep Show, and am really excited its got a fourth season coming- I never knew. However, I think Mitchell and Webb's recent rather lame BBC sketch show proves that they cant really be the force behind much of Peep Shows very funny humour. I gather someone else writes Peep Show for them, isnt this so?

Thats correct yes, they have little to no input on Peep Show, they literally are just actors, which explains the difference in quality between Peep Show and That Mitchell & Webb Look, which was pretty dire to be fair.

I understand what you are both saying but in their defence, Mitchell and Webb found themselves in the course of one year shooting a feature, writing and shooting a series, a tour, and a fourth series of peep show, not to mention a slew of extra appearances and stuff. What's more, their first series, The Mitchell & Webb Experience, was really very good and written solely by the two actors (think their earlier radio show was too), whereas their 2nd series was written with a number of other writers, including incidentally the two writers behind Peep Show, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong. I think Mitchell & Webb have proven themselves talented comedy writers, and it would be a shame to cast them aside merely on the basis of one weak series and the fact that they didn't write another (though I still believe that the success of Peep Show owes a lot to the abilities, in acting if nothing else, of the two leads).

The first two series of Peep Show were genius but their sketch show was very poor and the stage show even worse. I still had high hopes for Magicians because it's by Bain and Armstrong not Mitchell and Webb but I saw a preview screening and it sucks. It isn't funny and they're not good enough actors for a movie. Now even Peep Show looks like it's jumping the shark.

?!?! wtf
What's wrong with you people? Both the Mitchell and Webb sketch shows are fantastic. You'd have to be a bit dim not to realise this, surely?
Meh.
