Neil Gaiman's fantasy novel "Stardust" is directed by Matthew "Layer Cake" Vaughn, who is as famous for producing Guy Ritchie's cheeky gangster epics as he is for turning down X-Men 3. The "trailer" shows off a staggeringly high profile cast including Robert DeNiro, Peter O'Toole, Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes. It looks like there is a slightly strained budget for CGI here (The IMDb says the film cost $65M) but the effects are not complete yet. **UPDATED**Neil Gaiman has mentioned in his blog that he does not know who has edited shots from the film into a trailer (and laid the Pirates of the Caribbean score over top).
The trailer was taken down from KinoExpress earlier this weekend, but has popped back up on YouTube (for the time being).

Thanks to commenter TheGreenKnight for the tip to Gaiman's blog.
Meh. Looks like a pretty cleaned up version of Pirates with some Potter thrown in the mix. As you say, hopefully the CGI is unfinished.
Er... have you even read the book?
It came well before Pirates and bears no resemblance whatsoever to Potter, save that both are fantasy stories which take place in the borderlands of England and Faerie.
And yes, the CGI is indeed unfinished. From Neil Gaiman's blog:
"...Lots of you have written in this morning to let me know that there's a Stardust sort-of-trailer up on a Russian site.
I just looked at it -- it's not an actual trailer, and it seems to be a bunch of shots cobbled together from unfinished CGI footage and has some Pirates of the Caribbean music on it, and I'm not sure who did it or for what, and it honestly isn't something I'd feel good about linking to and saying "This is a Stardust Trailer". So I won't. It should take you a second or two to find it with a google if you go looking for it. It's possible this might encourage Paramount to bring the real trailer out a week or two earlier than they were going to, but I believe the trailer will be out in the next three weeks anyway."

No never read the book and don't plan to. But I am well aware that it came way before pirates and Potter but it doesn't change the fact that this "trailer" resembles it in some way, especially with the music.
Not a big Gaiman fan, read the Sandman stuff but everything after that was too goth and emo for me.
I like the part in this fan trailer when the lad jumps at a moving stage coach, trying to latch onto it, and just bounces off.
"Goth and Emo"? What Neil Gaiman are you talking about? Coraline might fit that description (rather loosely), but American Gods, Anansi Boys, Neverwhere and Good Omens certainly don't.
Stardust isn't even vaguely gothic (or "emo", whatever that means). It's a fairy-tale-for-adults, written in the tradition of Lord Dunsany and Hope Mirrlees.
The same Neil Gaiman who wrote Sandman and Death, the requiered reading of young up and coming goths and emos. Never read any of his novels although I heard American Gods and Good Omens are good.
You don't have to try and justify the film's story for me. I don't care enough about it to work. The only interesting part about it is seeing De Niro and all these great actors in fantasy setting. And of course to see if Vaughn handles it.
..read the Sandman stuff but everything after that was too goth and emo for me.
Since both of the Death mini-series were written during the Sandman run, the things that Gaiman wrote after his Sandman run would include the non-goth/emo Stardust, American Gods and Anansi Boys.
You're welcome to your opinion about Gaiman's work, but at least try and get your facts straight.
What facts?
The CGI is final. Otherwise it wasn't to be in a trailer.
Sorry, I didn't know there was a fake trailer.
