Philly 2007 Lineup Announced!

(Posted In Random Festival News )
The official website for the 2007 edition of the Philadelphia Film Festival is now online and while I'm just beginning to dig through the program it's obvious that Danger After Dark programmer Travis Crawford has worked his usual magic. This year's edition of the festival will see Dead Daughters, Dynamite Warrior, Unholy Women and Wisit Sasanatieng's The Unseeable get their first screenings on these shores and the rest of the line is just as impressive. Sadly I'm not going to be able to make it to Philly for this year's festival but believe me when I say that it is one of the absolute best going: a great selection of films, comfortable venues and a very relaxed atmosphere. It's a good time and I'll miss being there this year.

Check the festival website here.

Always a great festival. I'll be missing it this year as well - hopefully I can get back for the '08 incarnation...

Dammit this year sucks. I was hoping for more , last years festival was I think their greatest year and 2007 may just very well be the worst year. The HodgePodge programming shows and they better get another program director as good as they had in the past. My friends are very disappointed and we where hoping for some good films since last year we saw about 25 films ,this year I don't even think I see 10 films I want see.

Checked out the festival website yesterday, I have to agree with Michael as far as the Danger After Dark selections, there doesn't seem to be as many good ones. I already saw Severance which was very good. I noticed Travis' name wasn't on many of the descriptions of the movies in D.A.D., whats up with that? Any clues - Todd?

I think you all will find that there are actually a lot of great films this year. If you are a fan of Travis's programming, be sure not to miss this year's Asian Gangster sidebar, which he programmed almost as an offshoot from DAD since he had so many favorites in that genre. Travis wasn't able to do his usual load of blurbs this year, but hopefully he will be back in action during the festival.

Also, DYNAMITE WARRIOR did not work out in the end, so it's NOT in the fest.

Hi everyone,

The replacement film for ELECTION in Danger After Dark's "Asian Gangsters" sidebar is Soi Cheang's excellent DOG BITE DOG. However, the screening times for DOG BITE DOG are NOT the old screening times for the cancelled ELECTION screenings. DOG screens on Saturday, April 14th at midnight, and Tuesday, April 17th at 9:30 p.m. You can check the fest website for more details, and thanks.
