It's been a long wait but Russian blockbuster horror-fantasy Day Watch will finally hit North American screens on June 1st.
The sequel to the hugely successful Night Watch set box office records in its native country on release but it has been stalled out awaiting a US release. Perhaps recognizing that the first film of the proposed trilogy idn't translate to western audiences as well as they'd hoped director Timur Bekmambetov has continued to work on a US version of the film ever since the Russian release - at one point turning in a cut well over three hours long. No word how long the final US version will be but expect some significant changes from the Russian version already available on DVD, the least of which will be a much better English translation.

I liked Day Watch, but I'm not sure how it could be a trilogy by how the it ends. Hopefully they'll have the animated subs like they had in Night Watch.
The third movie will not be like the first two. Fox bought the rights to the whole trilogy including Dusk Watch and claim that they are making it in English and abandoning the majority of the actors from the first two. They squashed the second and third movie into one for Day Watch to try and finish the story as it was. I doubt the third movie will even bare any resemblance to the first two.
I liked Day Watch better then Night Watch.
