A Trailer For Danish Sci-Fi Vikaren (The Substitute)

Well, did I ever read this one wrong. When I first came across a synopsis for Danish sci-fi picture Vikaren some months back I assumed that the film would be a bad comedy targeted at the tween set, if not an outright parody of better films. The trailer for the picture has hit the web and while it does target a youngish crowd and does include nods to other pictures - there's an obvious tip of the hat to Lucky McKee's The Woods in the trailer - this things got an edge to it that I didn't expect at all. Really, the fact that it stars Paprika Steen - one of the finest actors of her generation anywhere in the world - should have been enough to tip me off but sometimes I'm a little slow. Here's the abovementioned synopsis:

6th Grade gets a new substitute teacher. She wants to train the class for an international competition in Paris. But something isn't right. How is she able read kids' minds? Why is she so mean? And how does she manage to convince everyone's parents she is so great when the whole class knows she is really an alien?
