Adam Buxton & BBC Three's New Sketch Show 'Rush Hour'.

How many have managed to see 'Hot Fuzz' then? Not out in America is it? Lost track... Anyway, you'll doubtless see Adam Buxton as the local journalist who appears quite a lot in the first half of the film. Going back some years, and as part of the duo 'Adam & Joe' (which still exists, though not on TV - on radio and podcast, so check the U.K iTunes store or the Xfm Radio site) he wrote and performed some extremely popular comedy. Best way to describe it is silly but intelligent, because it's largely about their interest in popular culture, music, film, and much more.

For now, I spotted that there's a new Sketch Show heading to BBC Three which Buxton is involved in, called (and based around the culture of) the daily 'Rush Hour', and it looks similarly silly-but-clever. This time around he's not really involved in writing beyond a couple of pieces, and although it's not his first time beyond other work as a performer (he's also written for other people over the years; see and hear him also in Armando Iannucci's recent 'Time Trumpet') it's a new chance to see him at work. Very charming, very smart, very funny. Oh, and for asian films fans, seek out 'Adam & Joe Go Tokyo", but for now I just wanted to point to this man and his new show, will try to watch it and point out a DVD release of it in the future.
