A New Trailer For Sam Balcomb and Jesse Soff's The Ore

We first wrote about independent sci-fi short The Ore way back in April of 06 and with the film freshly released on a jam packed DVD that takes you through every aspect of production, the directing team of Sam Balcomb and Jesse Soff have cut a new trailer for their flick.

I've just had the chance to see the film and while it occassionally shows evidence of it's budgetary limits - there are some obvious edges in a handful of composite shots and a few spots where the colour and lighting doesn't match up between elements - but this is one seriously impressive piece of work. The effects work is staggering for such a low budget affair and - more importantly - the duo have created a compelling little story rich with detail and ideas. Should they find a backer and care to do so this is a project that just begs to be expanded out to feature length. The film certainly has no shortage of character, compelling relationship and visual ideas.
