(Posted In Action Asia Drama Horror Sci-Fi / Fantasy Thriller Trailer Alert UK / Ireland / Australia / New Zealand USA and Canada )

Boyle-and-Cast.jpgSo I was just bumming around over on Richard's site when I noticed that there is a new trailer for Danny Boyle's sci-fi thriller acitioner insert other genre tag here, Sunshine. All I can say is wow. I love Boyle's stuff and I don't want to jump the gun here but this looks just fantastic and likely scarey as heck.

QT embedded trailer right here. Go let the sunshine in and face it with a grin.

Looks kind of like "The Core" (which I liked as a guilty pleasure) but actually GOOD.

Yep, this one I'm really looking forward to. Danny boyle is always worth a look, even with his failures. Everything from Sunshine so far looks like a seriously entertaining film. Always nice to see Michelle Yeoh up on the big screen too.

Yeah, I agree with Kurt. There is some early word that it isn't so good, but I'm willing to investigate anything that Boyle does, and as you say the sultry Yeoh is onboard - in fact the cast is very alluring.

Mack, you mean I'm not on your regular reading list?!

Oh Richard. Come here. :::I place Richard's head on my shoulder and he sobs uncontrollably::: Shhh. It's okay big guy. :::Richard hoarks a big loogie into my shirt::: That's right. Let it out. :::I stroke his head in a comforting yet still MANLY fashion::: It's okay. Mack still loves you. I did allow you on my FACEBOOK page. Do you remember? :::Mack hears a muffled 'M Ges. Goo did'. Yes I did Richard. Would I do that if I didn't like you? 'M Ges Got'. Right. Let's wipe those tears from you eyes there big guy.

I officially have too much time on my hands.

Agreed - this makes the film look much more complex and including some of the psychological twists that I personally love about Boyle's films...

My wife is Japanese and brought me up to speed on Hiroyuki Sanada while watching 'The Promise' a couple of nights ago (so over the top visually/storywise it was definitely a guilty pleasure) - I didn't know he is a big HK action star until then ;)

Danny Boyle brought out a revival of zombie movies with his running zombies in 28 Days Later.

I wonder what effect Sunshine will have on the movie landscape.

In other words, Danny Boyle is god.

28 days later did to night of the living dead is what Sunshine will do to Event Horizon.

Is that to the positive? or to the negative, lil boner? Do you speak ill of Boyle and his contributions or are we still friends?

» Posted by Mack at March 1, 2007 02:27 PM

well, I dunno,

I loved Event Horizon....there's a great movie in there somewhere.

seems like Boyle is the man, but boy the plot sorta feels like Event Horizon with a dying Sun.

and yes, we are still friends!

» Posted by lilboner at March 1, 2007 02:53 PM

I don't see any connection between this and Event Horizon aside from the space angle.
This film looks fantastic and the trailer is very vague on what it's about aside from the whole sun thing.

» Posted by swarez at March 1, 2007 03:25 PM

so, they send a craft to reignite the sun, but another craft was sent up and was lost.

in the trailer they talk about a mysterious 5th member and one guy is asking the captain "what did you see"

just seems to be another take on a haunted ship story.

but i'm sure it'll be great!

i'm i the only one seeing the EVENT HORIZON connection?

» Posted by lilboner at March 1, 2007 03:35 PM

Mack, you scare me...and not in a good way!

» Posted by Richard Brunton at March 1, 2007 04:38 PM

well it appears the good captain dies...hehe

» Posted by msc at March 1, 2007 06:07 PM

yep, saw the event horizon/sphere connection

hope that's not all of the story
