DVD releases has sparked more than a little talk of the great 80s nostalgia sci-fi horror(ish) flicks recently in these parts; namely Hardware, Night of the Comet and Night of the Creeps. Another of these (of many, it is a long tail) is the very fun Kyle McLaughlin starring 'aliens amoung us' cop flick from 1987: The Hidden. One tends to believe that the one-two punch of Blue Velvet and The Hidden was the reason why McLaughlin was cast in Twin Peaks. His character is sort of a trial run for Agent Cooper.
News of a remake of The Hidden surfaced earlier this year going by (hopefully a working-title) "The Seed." Currently cast in the film are Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black, Silent Hlil) and Neal McDonough (Ravenous, The Hitcher remake). Now remember that the original is Hard-R. I wonder if the remake will be fluffy PG-13 wonderbread? Any bets that the stripper possession will worm its way into the script? They are going the route of taking the concept only and building a brand new story with this one.
I wonder how long before we are treated to remakes of The Peacemaker (not the George Clooney one, the Robert Forster one) and Dead Heat (not the Kiefer Sutherland one, the Treat Williams one)? Or even worse, I Come in Peace!

Hey, don't be baggin' on I COME IN PEACE now!
Don't forget THE BORROWER or EVE OF DESTRUCTION.The HIDDEN remake will suck because they can't out-do Claudia Christian in that red dress
aaah dang
what a movie that is!
I COME IN PEACE is awesome and deserves a special edition DVD with Lundgren commentary.
I love The Hidden! Not so sure I want to see a remake though.
