Website and Trailer for The Matrimony

When I think of Asian horror, Mainland China doesn't exactly comes to mind as the hotspot for this genre. The reason being is China censorship board has a reputation for being uptight, especially on subject matter involving supernatural themes or gruesome violence so it came as a surprise to me when I first came across the teaser a few weeks back for The Matrimony. Director Teng Huatao states "Basically I do not categorize this film simply as a thriller or a romance. I’d rather call it a supernatural romance thriller”. As mention before, the cast line-up include Leon Lai, Rene Liu and Fan Bingbing. Its produce by Huayi Brothers Pictures, a major studio in China responsible for the production of The Banquet.

The Matrimony opens on Feburary 8th across theaters in China.
