A Stack of I Am Legend Set Pictures

(Posted In Action Film News Horror USA and Canada )

We haven't been paying a huge amount of attention to Francis Lawrence's adaptation of I Am Legend around here but seeing as I'm one of those freakish people who actually quite enjoyed Constantine and was much impressed by Lawrence's visual work there I am quite curious to see what he comes up with on this one. Well, here's your first chance to get a bit of a peek. Dread Central has scored a good number of exclusive set pictures from the film and they're looking pretty good ... of course, this being a Francis Lawrence film we're not going to have a clue what it'll actually end up looking like until it's well on its way through post ...

Check the shots here.

Vampires are taking over the world. Will Smith: "Aw, Hell naw!" Smith stabs one through the heart with a sharpened cross: "Now THAT'S what I'm talking 'bout!" This will be an even bigger mess than Lawrence's exceedingly mediocre CONSTANTINE...and even more poorly cast.

Jesus, how many months long is this shoot, anyway? For the record, I don't see it improving on THE OMEGA MAN. And I say that as someone pleasantly surprised by CONSTANTINE.

This might make a worthy movie so long as the crucial ending of Matheson's novel, or rather the profound significance of its ending, is kept intact and unmolested such as it was in Mark Protosevich's most-of-the-way faithful adaptation.

Protosevich's script took Matheson's concluding chapter, one that converted everything that came prior in the story into an uncomfortable epiphany (one that gave meaning to the title) to ponder darkly over, and forced it through the same cookie cutter mold used to wrap up any Van Damme/Seagal vehicle anyone's id might care to recall.

I can't say I expect great things from this film, and I read the book too long ago to guess whether it came from a great place to begin with. Still, Will Smith's in it, and he's usually reliable save for Wild Wild West and I, Robot. And Bad Boys II. And Men in Black II. Oh, and Hitch.
