Well, after a longer than expected wait, finally we get 'Linda, Linda, Linda' on a Subtitled DVD release. VizMedia also have 'Taste of Tea' coming up this year for American release on DVD, and although that's appeared with Subtitles both in Japan and Korea it remains one of the few films likely to get a clear and present mention what that particular disc also appears - that one's a masterpiece, this one's romping it at the MidnightEye Readers Poll for 2006 but has been a film that seemed to suffer from a lack of Subtitles on previous releases.

Finally!
Top film.
Great news. I have two things to say about this movie:
1. Bae Doo-Na is amazing in this movie, even better than she was in The Host or Mr. Vengeance.
2. I hope James Iha is hired to score Shunji Iwai's next film.
Oh. Thank the gods of DVD!
Wasn't the Viz dvd of Kamikaze Girls a non-anamorphic mess?
Will wait for reviews on this one.
I was very surprised at how great this movie was and agree that Bae Doo-Na was very good in it (I also liked her performance in "Host" as well). Being a fan of 80s/90s J-Pop and J-Rock, I hope that the DVD features background (and maybe vintage videos) on the Blue Hearts whose music figures so prominently in the movie. It would definitely help American/international audiences understand why their music and the song "Linda Linda" struck such a cord with the girls.
Wait--it's a Viz release? That makes me leery. Anybody seen any of their post-Kamikaze Girls releases? Releasing movies in the right aspect ratio seems like such a simple thing...
Can I just say how ugly those titles look? Anyway, great movie.
Can anyone help me here, what's the other Korean/Japanese film which involves a group of young girls/women forming a rock band? This"other" film got notable reviews as well but the title escapes me at the moment.
So apparently the Viz transfer is anamorphic but interlaced. Honestly I'm f***ing tired of R1 companies and their technical incompetence. I'll probably buy this anyway, since there aren't any alternatives.
