[Korean Film News] Under 12 Not Admitted? So Much The Better!

(Posted In Asia Film News )

Voice of A Murdere 3.jpgThe Korea Media Ratings Board, the body responsible for censoring films, recently classified the Korean film « Voice of a Murderer » in the category "under 12 years of age not admitted"... which in fact means, "over 12 years of age admitted". The drama is based on a true story: the kidnapping of Lee Hyung-ho, a 9-year-old boy at the time, in 1991. So why did the Board allow such young viewers to see the film, which is not usually the case? In fact, « Voice of a Murderer » does not really contain any cruel scenes, concentrating instead on the grief of the boy's parents after his kidnapping, and on the confrontation between the police and the criminal. As this type of film is often classified as "under 18 not admitted", « Voice of Murderer » should have a large range of viewers, including schoolchildren. Rather good news for the picture's director, Park Jin-pyo, who hopes to have a new success after his last film « You’re My Sunshine », and for actress Kim Nam-joo who makes her return on the big screen after being absent for six years!
