Now here's a good idea ... the UK's Shooting People Films have just released the second volume of their Best V Best short film DVD series, a series which collects some of the finest award winning shorts from around the world. What set sthis apart from other shorts collections, however, is that this one returns a percentage of the proceeds from every DVD sale directly back to the film makers to help finance their next project. So you get something good, and the film makers get the money to make more films. Nice.
The entire lineup on this disc looks solid but the big draw for me is Wi Ding Ho's Respire, a SARS inspired film we wrote about way back in the summer of 2005 and have never had the chance to actually see since. Very nice.
This is a great idea, and I would purchase one [if I had some money].
So funny, I was just thinking about this film a few days ago. I remember talking to the cinematographer Jake Pollock (back when I was iamNataku) about if there was any chance for a DVD release, but he said it was doubtful.
It'll be great to finally see this film after hearing about it such a long time ago.
