How we let this one slide past without a peep is unacceptable. Admittedly at first I was displeased about the idea of a CGI Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. While not wholly convinced I will admit that the trailers that have come out have piqued my interest though.
The second trailer came out early last week and if you haven't seen it do yourself a favor and go here and pick your poison. Also, visit the official Warner Bros. site too.
But something else that caught my ear and my eye was some of the voice talent attached to this program. At the end of the first trailer you hear Michelangelo say 'Nuts'. No one says nuts like that than Billy West who was the voice of Fry on Futurama. Dude's got serious talent behind the mic. So I went to the IMDB site and saw the rest of the talent. Peep this. Mako as Splinter, Sarah Michelle Gellar as April O'Neill, Chris Evans as Casey Jones, Zhang Ziyi as Karai, Patrick Stewart as Max Winters, and Kevin Smith as the Greasy Chef. Interesting talent on the front line. Which I like.
Geez, you kidding me with that cast list?! Great voices lined up!
I'm a big fan of Billy West.
I'm not entierly convinced yet. I wished they'd update their vocabulary as well with this film. "Dude" and "radical" aren't exactly how kids talk today.
I hear lots of people still saying "Dude", and no doubt there'd be major uproar if they changed what they speak like, its a part of the characters remember.
Swarez, dude, get over it. This movie is totally gonna be rad. ;-)
Personally, I think they've found a nice balance between the dark original comics and the goofier later incarnations. They're in a lose-lose situation, where no matter what they do there's lots of people who'll think they should have gone in a different direction. The relative lack of Internet whining about the ruination of childhood memories based on a few minutes of movie trailer footage bodes well for the approach that they seem to be taking.
HI!!! Superb voice talent for this movie has just made me want to see it that much more...I grew up in the 80's with the original comics and series, and I am glad they haven't changed the characteristic vocabulary of the turtles, and I agree, they seem to have found a nice balance somewhere in between...unlike so many 8o's "reissues" or "recycled" storylines, they seem to have stuck true to form!! No ruined childhood memories here!!
Cheers all
