Minoru Kawasaki's The World Sinks Except Japan Available Now on English Subbed DVD!

(Posted In Asia Comedy Cult DVD News )

nihon_igai_hkdvd.jpgHe's done wrestling squid, boxing beetles, and office worker koalas and with his latest film cult Japanese director tackled his biggest target yet: the Japanese blockbuster. Hot on the heels of big time CGI effects film Japan Sinks Kawasaki cranked out his decidedly more lo-fi parody, The World Sinks Except Japan. Other than Calamari Wrestler which got a North American release thanks to the brave folk at Pathfinder, Kawasaki's films have been notoriously difficult to find on DVD despite a good amount of festival popularity, but someone in Hong Kong seems to have noticed and been good enough to pick up his disaster film parody and give it an English subtitled release. Which is available now.

I'll have to get around to this one. "Calamari Wrestler" was a revelatory experience for me. I've desperately wanted to see "Executive Koala," among others, since reading about them on Twitch. Hopefully some more of his stuff gets an English language subtitle track somewhere along the lines.

This movie sucked. I thought Ika Resuraa was bad, but this one is just crap. Thats all I have to say.

Save your peanuts and buy something worthwhile like Noriko's Dinner Table, Memories of Matsuko or even Lovely Complex.
