Peter Chan's remake of Chang Cheh's The Blood Brothers has been in production for roughly a month now and behind the scenes shots have begun to appear on Chinese news sites. These are strictly behind the scenes shots, so don't expect glamor poses from Li, Lau or Kaneshiro, but the sheer scope of it looks as impressive as you'd expect with such a high profile cast and director.

Thanks to Robin for the pointer.
It looks good.
I'm glad they're doing this, but could someone please tell me how this doesn't go against Jet Li saying he won't do another martial arts film? I know he said he would still do action films and stuff, but this is a straight up period piece Kung Fu film. WTF?! And it wasn't even several movies after Huo Yuan Jia, his next damn film is a martial arts pic!
This is my take on Jet Li saying he won't do another martial arts film. Most often when people hear the term Martial Arts, they immediately think of the physical aspect. Yes, there is fighting involve but there is also the philosophical and spirital aspect behind Martial Arts. I think what Jet means is that Fearless (aka Huo Yuan Jia) is his last film where he express his personal beliefs on Martial Arts. Notise how there is a moral dilemma in Fearless whereas the Hollywood production that he worked on are straight forward braindead beat'em up kinda of films.
I think the term Jet Li actually "WU SHU" which is the traditional Chinese martial arts. So while he will do martial arts moves in this since he'll no doubt be fighting, the focus won't be on the actual style of fighting.
Ok I'm not sure I explained that very well...anyways let's just hope he still fights in his new films. God knows he won't last long if he just relies on his "acting" skills.
jet li stated; that he will not do any more wu shu martial art's,and just going to do his own style, which he's not going to do any more USA film's,since hollywood didn't give him 10 million dollars to do the last two films of the matrix,I would'nt deal with hollywood anymore.!!!! same thing they did to BRUCE LEE,if you know the true story... the films are better overseas anyway, because there no martail artist in the USA,BUT MARK D,WESLEY,STEVEN SEAGAL,you have too really think about that; what I'm saying. He's doing alot films back home..IF YOU NOTICE THAT JACKIE CHAN FILM'S ARE BETTER WHEN HE'S GOES BACK HOME.?? AND HE GIVES USA BS STUFF.??? THINK ABOUT IT.MR.HOLLYWOOD,AND TO THE PEOPLE HERE IN THE USA>>>
The target Western audience are those who just want to see action and not dwell on any moral, ethical or personal issues. It's "wham, bam, show me more fighting, man." Martial arts is the only strength people running Hollywood want to allow Chinese to do to capture any attention. For any deep issues, best to tackle them back home where the audience usually does expect more and understand more than plain chop-socky business. Dumbing-down is what you see for the West.
According to what I've been reading Jet Li will not do any fighting in this movie. He is playing the role of Ma, Ci Ma translates into the Assasination of Ma. Apparently he dies pretty early in the movie at the hand of his younger brother and will do no fighting.
Nope...Jet is the leading actor and he kills Andy Lau. Later at the end of the movie Takeshi Kaneshiro kills Jet li. So Andy Lau dies early...This movie is about Ma...who is played by Jet li.
