Ernesto Diaz Voted Best Director and Screenwriter of 2006 for Kiltro

(Posted In Action Film News Martial Arts Mexico and South America Trailer Alert )

Kiltro-mob.jpgEl Mercurio, the largest newspaper in Chile, have just posted their year end best of list and at the top of the film heap? Ernesto Diaz who got nods as both director and screenwriter of Kiltro, the martial arts actioner starring Marko Zaror that we've talked about a good bit around here. Sure, Chile doesn't have the largest film industry in the world but a genre picture getting acknowledged for much of anything in the mainstream press is rare in the extreme and there's certainly a lot to like with Kiltro. And the accolades don't end there ... Kiltro was also topped a poll in the Chilean edition of Rolling Stone listing five films that will change the way Chile watches movies. Other titles on the list? Oh ... just Pan's Labyrinth, Miami Vice, Pirates of the Caribbean and A History of Violence.

The film hasn't found a North American home just yet but resourceful Spanish speakers should be able to track down the recent Chilean DVD release which features no English subtitles but does apparently include a healthy behind the scenes reel. Diaz and Zaror are currently hard at work editing their second film together, the masked hero picture MirageMan.
