The Kingdom is here and no Trier in sight.

(Posted In Action Drama Trailer Alert USA and Canada )

kingdom1.jpg Peter Berg is mostly known as an actor. Many remember him from such "classic" films as Wes Craven's Shocker, Aspen Extreme and Corky Romano but the guy has, in my mind, become one of the most exciting new action directors out there. The Rock's The Rundown was a great action flick and his new film The Kingdom has him tackling a more serious subject. A group of FBI investigators travel to Saudi Arabia to investigate a mass murders of Americans within an Western housing compound and to try and catch the killer or killers. Cultural clashes and violence ensues.
It's produced by Michael Mann and stars Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper and Arrested Development's Jason Bateman. The trailer is up on Yahoo and looks pretty fantastic.

All together now: "America! Fuck Yeah!"

A couple thoughts:

Michael Mann's got his paws all over those visuals.
Will Jamie Foxx ever be a real actor again (i.e. Ali, Collateral), or will he continue to simply posture for the camera (i.e. Miami Vice)?

It doesn't say "From the director who brought you Corky Romano" because Peter Berg didn't direct Corky Romano. :/

I'm looking forward to this, Friday Night Lights was probably the best/most non-formulaic football movie I ever saw.

Naw Foxx is good. Never liked him in his comedy days but his drama work is so much better.
