Some absolutely fantastic news here passed my way by Logboy purely because he knew how happy it would make me ...
The UK's League of Gentlemen have been rather quiet lately. Sure, the individual members are insanely busy but they've been busy seperately for quite some time and though they've all talked about how mush they want to continue working together the basic reality is that when a successful group seperates, goes on hiatus, or whatever you want to call it the chances of them ever actually getting back together are slim to none. Look at it this way, in the past year League members have published two novels, created and written one entirely new TV series, written a radio comedy series, appeared in live theater, written episodes of other hit shows, appeared in a fistful of films and guested on stacks of television series. These guys are in demand and for them to get their schedules to line up long enough to get rolling again is going to take a serious effort.
But apparently that effort is being made. According to UK comedy site Chortle the League will reunite for a new TV series in 2007. No Edward or Tubbs in this one, though, the town of Royston Vasey is being put to rest and the group is moving on to new things. Which is a good thing, I think, as they are all far too gifted to allow themselves to fall into the trap of repitition and self parody ...
Yeah the guys have gone on record saying they dont want to become self parody like Last Of The Summer Wine. With them just beating the shit out of the same horse over and over.
