J-sploitation: Unearthed Films to release Takao Nakano's SEXUAL PARASITE: KILLER PUSSY (KISEICHÛ: KIRÂ PUSSHÎ) and Fuji Kikaku's "Zankoku-bi: onna harakiri" collection on DVD in the U.S.

well, it's obvious, but does it matter than unearthed announce theyve licensed something because they simply havent released many of the things theyve announced previously... and besides the reaction to the unsubbed HK DVD of 'killer pussy' doesnt bode well, and the harakiri films hardly need releasing (with or without subs) as the taste for these would seem to be minimal from the amount (i.e lack of) fuss over them in the past years since the boots appeared on DVD-rs available widely online... odd.

The ONNA HARAKIRI "films" are really only for a very small target audience. They are not movies with a story, characters, nice camera work and all that shit. Each of them is just a girl in an empty room who cuts her stomach open and plays with her intestines before she dies. Yeah, that EVERYTHING that happens in the 60 MINUTES these things run. While I certainly have no problems with nastiness and gore these productions bored me senseless. They should only appeal to people who have not been properly warned and that niche of the market that likes to masturbate to that kind of thing. But with the proper (i.e. misleading) marketing these could easily make a profit. I can't imagine they've cost a lot to license.

thats my fear caterpillar, manipulative marketing - sure, you could argue all day long for and against the potential market for the films, but since one person could even unknowingly harbour manipulative intent, or simply be open to the idea of being manipulated, it's a hard call : i say those harakiri films are a good example of the kind of thing thats limited even within its country of origin, of something that would require mis-selling as gore in order to get people to buy into them. 'killer pussy', well, that's an oddity and likely to be sold as such too. where's the decent films that are languishing in licensing limbo?

They seem to be all talk and little action

Well, Lost Paradise was directed by Merzbow and also appears to feature his own music. So some people may be interested in the film because of this.

The girl in KP has an amazing rack, her boobs alone justify buying the DVD. I'd still hit that Killer Pussy, as long as the monster in her vagina let me finish before biting off my wang.
