While Everything's Gone Green, the first feature film to spring from the pen of Canadian literary icon Douglas Coupland, awaits its theatrical release here comes a fantastic piece of news seemingly sprining straight out of left field:
Coupland is making the move to television. While it does not yet have a network home Coupland has partnered up with producers Chris Nanos, Henrik Mayer and Elizabeth Yake to create Extinction Event, a new science fiction series described as being in the vein of Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer amd Lost. The pilot has been written and production is moving ahead now.
My god. With Aronofsky prepping a new horror series for HBO and continued rumblings about a possible return for Agent Cooper, 2007 was already looking to be a spectacular year for North American television. Throw a Coupland penned sci-fi show into the mix and I'm in heaven ...
