Grady is enjoying himself over at the Pusan Film Market. He shares news that the Crime/Drama Dog Bit Dog was picked up by Arclight and they are trying to sell it internationally.
I've seen Dog Bite Dog. I liked it all save the last 30 minutes. The last 30 was a bit overdrawn and as Todd said in a previous aritcle, quite possibley has the worst version of 'You Are My Sunshine' ever recorded in human history. EVER! But, it did show that HK still has some edge to their filmmaking. Sadly for Arclight you're going to be able to pick it up on all-region DVD at the end of the month.
This fucking rocked. Nice to see it being picked up.
I liked the last 30 minutes just fine. What kept the film from greatness was the hilariously cheesy (I did in fact LOL) love story that got spliced in between the gory shootouts and brutal head bashings. But absurd genre mixes are hardly anything new in the world of Cat III cinema.
The best Hong Kong movie I've seen since...Love battlefield, at least (the same director, not a surprise!).
I loved the love story (yep!), the blood, the tears, the sweat, the incredible violence, the nihilism, the end,...
Kind of early Kim Ki-duk mixed with Ringo Lam and Kirk Wong at their very best.
A masterpiece and in my top ten of the year!!!!
